An entirely different kind of sensor
At Fidelica, we are perfecting electronic fingerprint imaging for the mass market.
To accomplish this, we have developed a uniquely thin, flexible, efficient, usable, and inexpensive fingerprint sensor.
A new approach based on established methods
This sensor is not capacitive or optical, but pressure-sensitive, capturing fingerprints much the same way people have been doing for decades with ink. It is an area-based, touch-type fingerprint sensor, rather than swipe-type, meaning that a user need only place a finger on the array, not pull it across that array.
We couple a fully passive sensing array with a pressure sensitive membrane that sidesteps sensitive, expensive, and power hungry active electronics.
Our approach deciphers where fingerprint ridges apply pressure, and where fingerprint valleys do not. Exceeding FBI-standard 500dpi resolution, it creates an inherently binary 8.0kB fingerprint image.
Silicon is expensive, glass is fragile. Our sensor is made on a flexible polymer substrate, making possible roll-to-roll processing and economies of scale that cannot be matched with conventional materials. Even as a touch-type solution, this construction results in a sensor with a cost comparable to or less than silicon-based swipe sensors.
More than a fingerprint sensor company
In an effort to service a rapidly expanding industry, we have assembled a substantial systems design and integration team.
The fingerprint sensor is still our core technology, but is now the heart of broader range of smart card products and services.
Given the unique properties of our fingerprint sensor, Fidelica has focused efforts on creating advanced smart card systems that complement the distinctive attributes of the sensor itself.
Working with our customers, we have created the system electronics, firmware, and software, as well as the mechanical design and manufacturing process to enable a new reality: The complete biometric process, including fingerprint capture, template extraction, and matching takes place on the card itself.

Your expectations, our expertise
Expanding from our developed ability to integrate a full biometric system within the body of a smart card, we offer expert integration and manufacturing solutions on a broad variety of subsystems, including:
- Advanced microcontrollers
- Wireless communication
- Graphic display output
- Alternative user interface
- Thin-film battery power
